BVS Akustik

BVS Akustik GmbH & Co. KG from Verl (East Westphalia) has been active in the furniture industry since 1990 and produces custom acoustic panels with CNC saws, purpose-built drilling lines and an in-house laser system. Almost all board materials are processed: solid wood, veneered, composite and decor boards, each cut, edge-finished and lacquered to the customer's specification. The range covers drilled (AKUSTIbohr), micro-perforated (AKUSTIpur), slotted (AKUSTIpan) and sound-absorbing partition elements (AKUSTItrenn), each in numerous hole patterns and build-up depths. The elements are available in fire classes B1 and B2 and, for sports halls, with certified ball-impact resistance. References include Princeton University, NYU and the Emser Therme.

Description

AKUSTIbohr nano is the laser-perforated acoustic panel from BVS: a fine nano-perforation, 0.5 mm hole diameter as standard and from 0.2 mm on request, opens up the face layer almost invisibly, so wood grain and surfaces keep their expressiveness without visual irritation. The carrier material can be any of a wide range of veneers, lacquers, decors and laminates, including high-gloss, PerfectSense and textured finishes. The panel can be perforated over the full surface or with unperforated edge margins; BVS produces custom margin widths, access panels and other cut-outs to order, and cuts and cut-outs are possible directly on site. Formats up to 4000 x 1380 mm are available, and BVS also supplies nano-perforated laminates and veneers for further processing. Acoustically, the panel only becomes effective through the interplay of nano-perforation and the build-up behind it: the fine openings guide sound into the construction behind, where it is converted into absorption. Absorption values are determined in the reverberation room per EN ISO 354 and rated per EN ISO 11654, with the NRC stated in addition. For design work the full third-octave curve matters alongside the weighted single-number rating, because it maps the behaviour across the relevant frequency range and varies with grid and backing.

One Madison

For this modern office building in the middle of Manhattan (NY), the ceiling of the rooftop lounge "Le Jardin sur Madison" was clad with AKUSTIbohr nano panels. In total, approx. 175 m² of panels in the laser perforation Ø 0.5 / 2.5 / 1.25 / V were installed. In this very openly designed space, the warm colour of the oak veneer and the excellent acoustic properties make the panels a major contributor to a relaxed atmosphere.
